Wine Arcana is a small encyclopædia of global wine. It aims to explain concepts from viticulture and winemaking through concise, data-driven articles that aggregate the best current knowledge on a topic.

The text on Wine Arcana is generated almost exclusively by LLMs, with minimal but non-zero human oversight and editorial control. Some may feel that this devalues the project. We disagree. Many aspects of wine are inherently subjective and experiential—the aroma of a freshly opened bottle, the feel of swirling a glass of wine, and the taste and mouthfeel of one’s first sip—but some are scientific, and in these matters we can strive for objective truth.
